Green Peace – Proud to announce

We’re excited to announce that we managed to surpass our target by raising R102 731.00 towards the solar powered streetlights in Diepsloot.

This is huge, because the children’s streets will finally be safer, plus this will demonstrate how solar energy is the answer to South Africa’s energy needs. Here’s what happens next:

  1. Community’s ownership – in order for this project to have a lasting impact, we’ll continue to engage with community members to further communicate about benefits of renewable energy and to ensure that the community of Diepsloot has the owns the streetlights, maintaining them for years to come,

  2. Manufacturing the components – the mounting poles for the solar streetlights have been ordered, the poles are currently being manufactured by the supplier. Installation of the solar streetlights will start as soon as we take delivery of the mounting poles and the streetlights themselves,

  3. We switch on the Sun – we will host a celebratory project closure and handover event at the Philile Diepsloot Creche, where we will hand over the solar streetlights and officially ‘turn them on’.

But this does not mean ‘THE END’ – we will continue to work with the Philile Foundation and help the community enjoy the full benefits of renewable energy, ensuring that we help create brighter futures.
